An Obiki document is an ordered collection of display components with document-specific data and settings stored with them. Within the framework of the software each document is displayed as and individual web page. All documents (except the root) have a parent document and any document may have one or more child documents. By default documents have the specific user and group permissions of its parents, but these may be overridden. Each document has a title and an identifier. The title identifies the page to the user, while the identifier is used to identify the document within the site. For example, a document may have an identifier of ‘contact’ and a title of ‘Contact Us.’ This document may have a parent document with the identifier ‘about.’ The identifier is used in creating the URL; thus, for our contact document the URL would be ‘/about/contact.html.’ The title is used in the web page itself, generally appearing at the top to identify the page to the user. The identifier of a document will be automatically generated if not given by the document author.
Once you have logged into the site buttons will appear for adding new documents and editing the current document. To edit the current page click the Configure Document link (the pen button). To add a new document click the Add Document link (the plus sign) (see image). By default, these appear on the right side of the page using the icons described. Individual designers may choose to change the location of the buttons and their appearance as desired.
